Author Jeffrey J. McKenna released his novel, Saving Dr. Warren... "A True Patriot," in 2020 with the primary goal of fostering patriotism among young Americans. Through his nonprofit organization, Help Patriotism Prevail, Jeff offers complimentary books and lesson plans to educators nationwide. His nonprofit also partners with the veterans' home in Jeff's community to sponsor a patriotic essay contest that centers around Saving Dr. Warren... "A True Patriot," and it's theme of promoting patriotism in the rising generation. Since the publication of his novel, Jeff has distributed thousands of free copies. Additionally, Jeff travels across the country delivering speeches at schools and to patriotic organizations. I’ve had 250 kids read his book now, and over 80% of them (yes, that’s actual data!) said it was their favorite book out of the eight books I teach, which includes heavy hitters like To Kill a Mockingbird, The Hobbit, True Grit…books that kids love! All that’s to say, there is no better substitute for promoting Dr. Warren among the next generation of citizens and students.

This is my second year reading "Saving Dr. Warren A True Patriot" to my fifth grade students. I work in a very unique demographic where the majority of my students are low income and or English language learners. I have found that reading out loud to them daily has numerous benefits, both academically and emotionally. When my students hear the engaging story of Steve and his time traveling adventures back to the 1700's they are riveted and gain a true appreciation for the rich history of our nation.
My experience reading "Dr. Warren" has provided opportunities for my students to ask questions and make predictions, analyze the characters, and explore the themes and messages of the story. They are able to engage in the text and participate in discussion about our nation's history.

Author Jeffrey J. McKenna collaborates with local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) chapters across the country to promote the DAR's mission of fostering a love of country and educating the youth about American history. Together they do this by sharing the powerful message of his novel, Saving Dr. Warren... "A True Patriot," with the schools within the chapter's community, Through these partnerships, McKenna often speaks at state DAR events, engaging chapters and their members in discussions on promoting patriotism among young students.
